Youth in Action Association launches Voices for Hope: Afghan Youth Writing Project

Voices For HopeTuesday, July 13, 2010 – Kabul: Youth in Action Association (YIAA) has launched a new and unique initiative to continue with the peace-building activities of the association. Voices for Hope: Afghan Youth Writing Project is designed to assist interested students to write about their past experiences, dreams, fears, hopes and future plans.

blood donationMonday, June 14, 2010: Youth in Action Association launched "Healthy Youth, Healthy Future" blood donation and safety campaign in Afghanistan. The main focus of this year’s blood donations worldwide campaigns is youth. The theme of this year’s World Blood Donors Day is “New Blood for the World.”

 

World Environment Day Celebrated in Afghanistan by Youth in Action Association

WEDSaturday, June 05, 2010: Youth in Action Association celebrated World Environment Day 2010 in Afghanistan. An event was organized in Kabul to raise people’s awareness on biodiversity. Awareness of more 2000 people in the National Youth Cricket Ground near Chaman e Hozori was raised on environment and biodiversity.

 

 

 

Youth in Action Association Celebrates Global Youth Service Day

GYSDSaturday, April 24, 2010 – Global Youth Service Day was celebrated with separate events in Kabul and Jalalabad cities by Youth in Action Association (YIAA) an Afghan youth led organization. Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world and is now celebrated in Afghanistan by Youth in Action Association for the last two years.

 

 

YIAA Organizes Plantation Campaign: Tree, the Sign of Greenery and Prosperity

Plantation CampaignMonday, March 15, 2010 – Kabul: Youth in Action Association launched a country-wide plantation campaign from March 15 to 25. The campaign was be carried out under the slogan of "Tree: the Sign of Greenery and Prosperity" to raise awareness about the importance of trees in our environment. Masjids, schools,universities, and other public places were targeted with tree planting messages through face-to-face discussions with people and through posters. Plantation events were organized in Jalalabad, Kabul, and Gardez where youth planted trees voluntarily in public places. Hundreds of trees were planted and some 3000 posters distributed. Students were encouraged to plant one tree and take care of it throughout the year.

 

T20 Cricket Tournament: “Cricket Against Narcotics” Launched in Jalalabad

Cricket Tournament JalalabadSaturday, February 27, 2010 – Jalalabad: Youth in Action Association (YIAA) in collaboration with Afghanistan Municipality Strengthening Program (AMSP)  launched T20 Cricket Tournament against narcotics to raise public awareness on narcotics and to raise youth voices against narcotics in the eastern region of Afghanistan. The theme of the tournament is “Cricket Against Narcotics” and “Fighting Narcotics Through Sports.”

 

 

 

YIAA Organized Career Planning and Goal Setting Workshop

Career Planning WorkshopFriday, January 15, 2010: Youth in Action Association (YIAA) organized a workshop on “Career Planning and Goal Setting”. A large number of youth participated in the workshop. The workshop was intended to build the capacity of Afghan youth to become professionals in their desired field by planning their careers and setting life goals. The workshop encouraged youth to use such tools in order to become professionals in their interest area and to find sustainable employment. Awareness raising messages were delivered through media attending the workshop. The initiative was welcomed by youth participating in the workshop.
